Match Report

Braunton opened the scoring after only 6 minutes play, as Buckland's defence stuggled to settle. Subsequently the visitors were extremely lucky to have 11 players on the pitch, as a striker only minutes later, unhappy with a challenge by the goalkeeper, grabbed the keeper around the neck and wrestled him to the ground. Amasingly the referee claimed he did not see the incident and failed to take any action. Within seconds of the restart a Buckland striker was booked for an innoculess challenge deep in the Braunton half. This set the tone of the game, as the atmosphere was fraught for the remainder of the match.

After the initial goal Braunton were on the back foot until the mid-point of the second half as Buckland desparately tried to level the scores. A penalty following a breakaway after 25 minutes of the second period knocked the stuffing out of the home side. Two further goals late on gave Braunton a rather flattering victory in a feisty match.
