Match Report

After the opening five minutes South Molton should have been a goal ahead. A fine through ball put their centre forward in on goal. His shot rebounded back off the crossbar and with a virtual open goal blasted a second shot way over the bar from less than 6yds. This should have been the wake up call for Buckland, but the defenders looked very lethargic for the remainder of the opening period and should have been punished by the opposition strikers on at least two further occasions. On the positive side both Simon Adams and Jake Lomax had scoring opportunities that could have given the visitors the lead at the break.

Buckland made two substitutions at half time, one being Martin Tucker who was playing in his last match before leaving to work in Australia for twelve months. With the fresh players on the park, Bucklands play improved with the South Molton defence having to work hard to contain their opponents lively midfield players. The latter stages of the game was played largely in the South Molton half as Buckland pressed for the elusive winning goal. With 3 minutes of added time having been played a shot from Vinny Bott passed through a crowded goalmouth and rolled only inches wide of the far post.

Man of the Match: Phil Short (midfield)
