Match Report

A much strengthened High Bickington squad came to Buckland for this first midweek game. The visitors began the stronger with several good opportunities being missed in the early exchanges. As the half progressed it was Buckland who slowly took control of proceedings and started to pass the ball well between the midfield and attacking areas. Several good scoring chances came to the strikers but the High Bick’ goalkeeper was in excellent form to deny the home attack.

The second half was only 6 minutes old when a high ball into the Buckland penalty area was claimed by the keeper, but was fouled by two High Bick’ strikers. The ball was dropped by the keeper and knocked into the net from close range. The referee, unfortunately, did not see the foul and duly awarded the goal.

The remainder of the game was dominated by Buckland, but the visiting defenders and goalkeeper in particular, stopped every thing that the home strikers throw their way.

Man of the Match: Simon Adams (striker)
