Match Report

Buckland defended galantly during the first half as they played into the teeth of a gale force wind. Braunton attacked relentlessly with the wind at their backs but could not break down a stubborn visiting defence. The Braunton keeper had to be replaced after 20 minutes following a dislocated finger subsequent to his attempt to save a rare Buckland shot on goal. Minutes later the Buckland keeper tore a hamstring and could no longer kick, having to resort to only throwing the ball. After all this the half ended goal less.

The stalemate was broken 20 minutes into the second half as Buckland's Simon Adams neatly flicked the ball over Braunton's stand in keeper to open the scoring. Unfortunately for Buckland the lead could not be held and within 15 minutes the home side had scored twice to take a 2 - 1 advantage. The injuries continued following a collision between Buckland's veteran keeper John Adams and a Braunton striker late in the game. Both players receiving shoulder injuries, but luckily the two players were able to continue. As the game entered the final 15 minutes Buckland's eagerness to find an equaliser saw their forwards caught offside on virtually every attack. Eyes were firmly on the home sides linesman.

Man of the Match: Simon Adams (midfield)
