Match Report

The visitors opened the scoring after 10 minutes as a looping header caught the keeper off his line. Buckland immediately went on the offensive and almost equalised as a snap shot from Vinny Bott cannoned off the cross-bar from 6yds. Anchor doubled their lead on 20 minutes following the referee’s award of a debatable penalty for hand ball. Buckland subsequently had a 15 minute spell of fine passing football during which time they pulled themselves back into the game. Ed Jonckheere scoring from close range after the keeper had fumbled a Steve Bennett shot. With half time approaching Simon Adams was put through on goal from near the half way line. The attempted chip from Simon Adams was just reached by the outstretched hands of the keeper as he raced out from his goalmouth.

Buckland set out their stall early in the second period as neat passing football and a couple of subsequent shots kept the Anchor keeper busy. Ed Jonckheere hit a stunning shot from 18yds after 15 minutes that rattled the cross-bar before an alert Ben Carter headed home the rebound from close range. With the scores level the game was subsequently dominated by the home side, with periods of quick, neat football. Captain, Vinny Bott put his team-mates ahead midway through the half with a shot through a crowded penalty area following a corner kick. With less than 10 minutes to play, Ed Jonckheere collected a good through ball and fired past a flat footed keeper from 15yds to seal victory.

Man of the Match: Ed Jonckheere (midfield)
