Match Report

Northam should have taken the lead after 10 minutes, but were denied by a great save from Danny Barnes. The reminder of the half was evenly contested with Buckland being restricted to a handful of long range shots and a near post shot from Jake Lomax that rebounded off a post. The ‘Lions relying on free kicks and corners that always seemed to cause concern in the Buckland defence. Into the second period and after 15 minutes Simon Leach received the ball wide on the left and neatly slipped a pass across the six yard box for team mate Jake Lomax who swept a shot into the net from close range. Buckland brought substitutes Simon Adams & Martin Tucker into the action after 20 minutes to replace tiring team mates on a hot afternoon. Buckland held the upper hand for most of the reminder of the game, but when Northam did pose a threat, they were denied by keeper Danny Barnes in outstanding form. On at least two occasions he stopped goal bound shots with excellent saves. Late in the game Matt Horn and Simon Leach both had opportunities to increase the advantage, but to no avail.
