Match Report
For the third match running Buckland conceded an early goal to give themselves another uphill battle. A South Molton player found himself unmarked 25yds from goal and hit a low speculative drive that somehow evaded all the defence and just sneaked inside the far post past the keepers despairing dive. Buckland slowly began to put their game together and went on the offensive. The home goal seemed to lead a charmed life as a host of good opportunities for Buckland went begging. Firstly, Ben Dooley found himself completely unmarked inside the six yard box, but his out stretched foot could only direct the ball over the crossbar. Jake Lomax subsequently ran onto a pass that evaded the keeper, but his attempted shot from a couple of yards out, was somehow blocked by the back tracking goalkeeper. Vinny Bott headed goalwards following a good cross, but once again the ball flew over the crossbar from close range. Eventually after 30 minutes Buckland were awarded a penalty for a poor tackle on Vinny Bott. The same player picked himself up and just managed to score from the spot kick as the keeper made a valiant effort to save the shot. The second half continued in the same vain, Buckland continually attacking with little reward and South Molton only occasionally troubling the opposition keeper. After 20 minutes another penalty for a trip on Vinny Bott, was taken again by the same player, but this time well saved by the keeper. Only minutes later a good turn and shot from Buckland's Jake Lomax hit a post and rebounded to safety. Ten minutes later South Molton edged ahead with a header following a corner kick. To end a bad day for the visitors a defensive mistake 5 minutes from time gifted a third goal for the home side.
