Match Report

Buckland bounced back from their only previous league defeat to convincingly conquer Bradworthy. With the wind at their backs during the opening period the home side pressed forward and kept Bradworthy on the back foot for long spells. Several good scoring opportunities from Buckland went begging before the deadlock was finally broken after 25 minutes. Simon Adams put the home side ahead with a powerful run and firm shot from 15 yds that gave the keeper little chance of saving. Vinny Bott doubled the score only minutes later following a weaving run and shot into the corner of the net. A quickly taken free kick from Simon Adams 5 minutes before the break caught the Bradworthy defence napping, the ball being chipped past a bemused keeper direct into the top corner of the net from 20 yds.

The second half saw the visitors hold the greater possession of the ball, but only rarely troubling the keeper. Buckland always looked dangerous on the counter-attack with the energy of Vinny Bott in midfield and the pace of Simon Adams in attack. Once again several good scoring opportunities were squandered by the home side before a fourth goal was added 15 minutes from time. A good interchange between Matt Horn and Simon Adams saw Adams out muscle the last defender and neatly slot the ball past the diving keeper to record his hat-trick. A couple of minutes later, following a Buckland substitution, the visitors caught the home defence napping to record a late consolation goal.
