Match Report

An evenly contested opening 15 minutes burst into life as Buckland scored twice in a 5 minute spell. Firstly Simon Adams was put through and with only the keeper to beat, neatly slotted the ball into the net from 12yds. Minutes later Adams powered down the wing and crossed for fellow striker Vinny Bott to score from close range. North Molton to their credit didn't drop their heads and continued to plug away, with at times, periods of neat passing football. The home side found it difficult to contain the visitors midfield players and were undone by a long cross into the goalmouth 15 minutes before the break. The ball drifted past at least three Buckland defenders and keeper before ending up in the back of the net. Strikers Vinny Bott and Simon Adams kicked off from the restart and between them took the ball through the entire North Molton team before Simon smashed the ball through a crowd of defenders to instantly restore Buckland’s two goal advantage.

The second half was an end to end encounter with both teams pushing forward at every opportunity. Buckland continued to create the better chances with wing back Arran Brooks breaking forward with speed on a regular basis. The half reached the midway point before Buckland added a fourth goal following a goalmouth melee. Both Vinny Bott and Ben Dooley headed goalwards before a North Molton defender just had the last touch before the ball crossed the line. Subsequent to this point Buckland brought all three substitutes into the game, after which the visitors managed to score from a corner with five minutes remaining.

Man of the Match: Arran Brooks (defender)
