Match Report

The opening exchanges were just edged by Buckland who created the better openings. Following a well placed corner kick on 20 minutes from Steve Bennett, the Mortehoe keeper was unable to hold the cross and the ever sharp Matt Horn was in the right place to smash the ball into the net from close range.

Buckland's veteran keeper, 51 year old John Adams, made two fine saves leading up to half time to keep his side ahead.

The second half was entering the 20 minute mark when the 'stand in' referee from the home team gave a dubious free kick just outside the Buckland box. The floated free kick was headed goalwards by an unmarked striker but hit the sun-blinded keeper on the arm. The rebound was just bundled over the line for an equaliser. Mortehoe were on the up from this point, but Buckland hit back within 5 minutes as good work from Ben Dooley & Matt Horn set up Simon Adams who powered the ball into the net from close range. Buckland looked to be heading for victory until 5 minutes from time when a riggling run from the Mortehoe winger and subsequent driven pass across the goalmouth was unfortunately prodded into his own net by a Buckland defender.
