Match Report
Buckland were two goals ahead within the opening 15 minutes, as Simon Adams twice out paced the Torrington defence to calmly shoot past the keeper. On 20 minutes the visitors could have been further ahead, but Ed Jonckheere had his strike disallowed for offside and a 30yd shot from Simon Adams hit the crossbar. Buckland continued to dominate until 5 minutes before half time when Torrington were awarded a dubious free kick on the edge of the penalty area. The resulting cross drifted over the keepers outstretched arms and directly into the net to put the home side on the score sheet. The second half was only 2 minutes old when Torrington were rather generously awarded a penalty for handball. With the scores level, Torrington held the greater possession for 15 minutes with Buckland’s defence being put under increasing pressure. The rear guard action was lead superbly by Martin Tucker, playing his first game for 6 weeks due to suspension. Eventually the visitors regained their composure and sealed victory 15 minutes from time. This followed a fine 30yd run from Simon Adams whose initial shot came back off a post, only to be knocked into the net at the second attempt by an alert Ben Carter. The last ten minutes was a feisty affair after Torrington had a player sent off for punching.
