Match Report

Buckland looked energetic during the early exchanges, especially new strike partners Vinny Bott and Simon Adams. Both players created scoring opportunities in the opening 5 minutes, but were denied by good saves from the keeper. It was not long before Vinny Bott once again powered into the South Molton penalty area and squared the ball to Simon Adams who smashed a shot into the top corner to open the scoring after 10 minutes. The home side hit back almost immediately with a firm headed goal following in corner kick minutes later. Buckland’s lead was restored midway through the half as their two strikers exchanged passes before Vinny Bott scored with a low shot from 12yds.

Into the second period and Buckland continued to have the upper hand, as both Vinny Bott & Simon Adams scored a goal apiece to put the visitors well in command. With only 15 minutes to play South Molton scored following a mix-up in the Buckland defence. Amasingly the home side continued to press the Buckland defence who seemed to be at ‘sixes and sevens’ and somehow scored two further goals to level the scores with only two minutes remaining. Virtually straight from the restart Simon Adams threaded a long pass to Vinny Bott who was steaming into the opposition box. The striker just managed to reach the ball before the keeper, and prodded a shot into the net to edge Buckland ahead once again and just steal a narrow victory.

Man of the Match: Vinny Bott (striker) & Simon Adams (striker)
