Match Report

The home side began the game at a high tempo which pushed Buckland onto the back foot for the opening 20 minutes. The Pilton midfield dominated proceedings and this allowed their strikers to produce several good chances in the early stages. The Buckland crossbar was rattled with a fine shot on ten minutes and within minutes a powerful run through the defence resulted in the opening goal for the home side. Midway into the half Pilton’s advantage was doubled after the Buckland defence failed to clear a cross and their centre forward prodded the ball into the net from close range.

The visitors lifted their game during the second period and slowly began to press the home defence. Vinny Bott and Simon Adams both hitting shots that only just missed the target. Midway in the half a good run from Vinny Bott saw the ball passed firmly across the goalmouth for Simon Leach to score with a neatly placed shot into the corner of the net. Buckland looked to be the stronger side at this point, but the award of a penalty kick to Pilton, for an alleged trip after 30 minutes, sealed victory for the home side.

Man of the Match: Vinny Bott (midfield)
