Match Report
Buckland bounced back from their heavy defeat the week before with a determined performance against South Molton. With Manager John Adams back from holiday and keeping goal his team opened a 4 goal lead within the opening 20 minutes. This initial period was dominated by the home side with good accurate passing and clinical finishing in front of goal. Simon Leach with only his second start for over 3 months gave Buckland the lead after 10 minutes with a good shot into the corner of the net from 12yds. Minutes later Ed Jonckheere edged a Gary Montague shot into the net with his shin after a firm drive by his colleague that would probably have hit the back of the net even if it had not brushed Jonckheere’s leg on the way through. The subsequent 20 minutes was dominated by Vincent Bott who could not put a foot wrong as he racked up a hat-trick with a determined period of positive attacking football. The visitors did manage to record one solitary goal midway through the half following a free kick. As the half time break approached Simon Adams smashed in goal number six to give the home side a superb advantage.
During the second half Buckland played into the strong wind but still had more to offer with long periods of controlled football. The goal scoring chances were still being created and eventually two further goals, from man of the match Vincent Bott and a firm strike late in the game from substitute John Stanton sealed an emphatic victory.
