Match Report
Within the opening minute Vinny Bott thought that he had put Buckland into an instant lead as he slotted home a shot following a good pass, but the linesman had unfortunately flagged for offside. The home side continued to press forward and were rewarded after 6 minutes as Jake Lomax headed a corner kick goal wards and Gary Montague rose to head powerfully into the net from close range.
Simon Adams won the ball wide on the wing minutes later and lobbed the goalkeeper from almost 30yds to double Buckland’s advantage. The home side held by far the greater possession for the remainder of the half and although playing periods of good football were unable to add to their total as the crossbar and post saved the visitors on at least three occasions. During the final minute of the half, following a corner kick, North Molton failed to clear their lines and the ball was laid into the path of Vinny Bott who struck a superb drive from 15yds that rifled into the net.
A corner kick 20 minutes into the second half was met by Jake Lomax at the near post and his deft header looped over the keeper into the far side of the net for goal number four. North Molton were subsequently gifted a goal as a mis-placed pass in the Buckland defence was seized upon by a visiting striker who made no mistake from 10yds. Within minutes of the restart Simon Adams bundled his way past the North Molton defence and scored with a firm shot to give the home side back their 4 goal advantage. With 15 minutes remaining all three Buckland substitutes were brought into the action. Yet another corner kick within the last ten minutes was met by Gary Montague who headed his second goal of the game and Buckland’s sixth. A penalty for handball in the last minute was duly dispatched by the visitors but served only as a consolation as the home side fully deserved their victory.
