Match Report

Within 3 minutes Simon Adams opened the scoring following a good pass from Vinny Bott. This goal marked an all time individual scoring record for the Club, as Simon reached the exceptional total of 200 competitive goals for Buckland. The moment was partially spoiled as within minutes Bradworthy hit back as a long distance shot by their centre forward hit the crossbar and was subsequently knocked into an empty net by a fellow striker. Buckland reacted well and began to dominate the midfield area of the pitch. Vinny Bott was relishing his position of striker along side Simon Adams and on 20 minutes scored Buckland’s second. In fact he should have recorded another goal minutes later as he was fouled on the edge of the penalty area, but still managed to shoot and score. Amasingly the referee decided instead to award a free kick to Buckland just outside the area for the original foul on Bott. Buckland recorded a third goal 10 minutes later as a fine shot from Vinny Bott struck a post and was knocked into his own net by a Bradworthy defender.

The second half started in electric fashion for Buckland and Vinny Bott in particular as the player scored twice in the opening 7 minutes to complete his hat-trick. The home side were in complete control as the midfield players set up chance after chance for the strikers. Unfortunately slightly wayward finishing from the home side allowed the visitors to keep their goal intact for the next 25 minutes. A 4th goal for Vinny Bott, 15 minutes from time hit the visitors for six and this allowed both Buckland substitutes, Rob Barnard and Phil Tucker to have a run out in relatively easy conditions.

Man of the Match: Vinny Bott (striker)
