Match Report

A weakened Buckland side with three regulars missing faced 10 man Lynton in extremely windy conditions.

Buckland with the wind at their backs during the opening period, could only muster a Phil Short goal after 15 minutes. In fact, Lynton should have equalised on 25 minutes as one of their strikers eluded the defence, but his shot was well saved by veteran keeper, John Adams. The plucky Lynton side should also have equalised at the start of the second period, following the award of a penalty for handball. Fortunately for the home side, the resulting spot kick was hit high over the crossbar. Buckland slowly began to make the extra player count as their greater possession allowed the strikers to pepper the opposition goal with shots. Lynton managed to hold firm until 15 minutes from time as Phil Short eventually added a second goal to seal victory for the home team.

Man of the Match: Phil Short (striker)
