Match Report
Buckland stormed off the starting blocks by scoring twice through Simon Leach in the opening 2 minutes. The visitors looked shell shocked for several minutes as the home side controlled proceedings. Anchor attempted to claw themselves back into the game on 10 minutes by scoring with a good finish from close range. Simon Leach had other ideas and within 2 minutes of the restart had completed his hat-trick following a defensive mix-up. The opportunities came thick and fast at both ends during the next 20 minutes or so, but it was the visitors who converted their chances to level with a couple of goals in the last 10 minutes of the half. The excitement did not end, within the last minute Buckland were awarded a penalty for handball. Up stepped Simon Adams to neatly tuck away the spot kick to once again give the home side the edge.
The roles were reversed at the beginning of the second period as Anchor stunned their opponents with 2 goals in as many minutes, the first within seconds of the half starting. The all action encounter saw no further goals until 15 minutes from time when the visitors scored goal number six to open a two goal cushion. Buckland hit back within minutes as Jake Lomax headed home following a corner with 6 minutes remaining. Buckland subsequently threw caution to the wind and threw players forward in an attempt to seek an equalizing goal. The Anchor keeper beat away several goal bound shots in the final minutes, before the referee’s whistle ended a truly pulsating game.
