Match Report

Buckland were stunned as Chittlehampton opened a 3 goal advantage during the initial 20 minutes. Looking dazed and shocked the home side appeared to be staring defeat in the face with only a quarter of the match played. The remainder of the half saw the home side suddenly lift their game and with good attacking football saw striker Simon Adams score twice in 10 minutes to put Buckland back in contention. The amasing turn around was completed 10 minutes before the break as Vinny Bott headed the ball over a hesitant Chittle’ keeper to level the scores.

Buckland came out the stronger of the sides at the start of the second period and tore into the visitors defence. A penalty for handball after 10 minutes was positively converted by Simon Adams to complete his hat-trick. The same player minutes later muscled his way through the defence before crossing low for Jake Lomax to slide the ball over the line from close range. The home side looked to be heading for an unlikely victory until 6 minutes from time when Chittle’ scored from close range after keeper Danny Barnes could only parry a shot into the path of an on running striker. Buckland subsequently shot themselves in the foot as a defender put through his own net with 2 minutes remaining to give the visitors a share of the spoils.

Man of the Match: Simon Adams (striker) & Jake Lomax (striker)
