Match Report

A bone hard pitch made playing conditions difficult, but both teams contributed to an entertaining opening half. Buckland’s midfield players held the greater possession, but it was the home side who edged ahead with a well worked goal midway through the half.

The second period was again evenly contested, but it was Torrington who added to their tally after 20 minutes. A fine run and shot from a Torrie striker was superbly saved by Danny Barnes, but the rebound was smashed into the net through a crowd of players from 10yds. The visitors brought both substitutes into the game at this point and within 10 minutes of his arrival Matt Cann hit Bucklands goal of the season so far. After several interchanging passes between his team mates, the ball was collected by Matt 30yds from goal and after taking a couple of strides hit a low drive directly into the corner of the net. Buckland rallied following this strike, with the team pushing forward at every opportunity. The home side managed to hold firm with a good defensive display that allowed them to keep Buckland at bay until the final whistle.

Man of the Match: Simon Adams (midfield)
