Match Report

The second match of the weekend was a difficult encounter as the Buckland players were holding knocks and bumps from the previous day’s game. To their credit the early play was confined to the Grosvenor half of the pitch as Buckland pushed forward in an attempt to gain the early advantage. After 15 minutes Simon Adams received the ball on the wing, cut inside his marker and curled a fine 20yd shot into the far corner of the net. Grosvenor equalised 10 minutes later following a goalmouth melee, several shots rained into the Buckland goalmouth, each time being blocked, but the final shot deflected off a defender and into the net. With the scores level, the home side pressed forward with a period of neat passing football. Buckland’s defence held firm and with the strikers looking sharp on the counter attack it was left to Ed Jonckheere, with only 2 minutes of the half remaining, to give the visitors the advantage. His powerful shot from the edge of the box, flew over the keeper into the net.

The second half was an end to end affair with the best couple of chance’s falling, firstly to Grosvenor, who had a shot deflected onto the crossbar by a defender and secondly, to Buckland's Jake Lomax who sliced his shot wide of the target following a one on one with the keeper 5 minutes before the end.

Man of the Match: Vincent Bott (midfield)
