Match Report
The majority of the first half possession was held by Buckland, with scoring opportunities falling to all the visiting strikers. Simon Adams, Jake Lomax and Ed Jonckheere all had chances to have put the visitors ahead, but were denied by the Putford rearguard. The home side only mustered shots from a long distance free-kick and a drive from 10yds which was well saved by Danny Barnes.
In the first minute of the second period Buckland’s defence were caught sleeping as a Putford striker rather easily took the ball past two defenders and shot into the far side of the net, to edge the home side ahead. The visitors struggled to make inroads into the Putford half for the next 15 minutes as the home side pushed players forward. Slowly Buckland regained momentum and midway through the half a long clearance by the defence was chased by substitute Simon O’Dell. His first time shot from 18yds was mis-hit but luckily for Buckland Jake Lomax was on hand to fire past the keeper from 8yds. Both sides brought substitutes into the action late in the game as legs began to tire. Buckland could have scored on at least two occasions as shots from Matt Cann and Simon O’Dell both worked the opposition keeper. Putford gained victory with only four minutes remaining as another long clearance caused defensive problems. One of the home strikers scoring with a snap shot from 12yds.
