Match Report

The home side were unrecognizable from the team that played at Buckland just prior to Christmas with at least 8 changes from the first game. Clovelly opened the scoring on 7 minutes as a looping header from 12yds drifted over the keeper and rebounded back of the post before being prodded home from close range by an alert striker. A superb strike from 25yds on 12 minutes put the home side further ahead as Buckland struggled to cope on a very heavy pitch. Only a fine save from keeper, Danny Barnes prevented Buckland from going 3 goals down midway through the half. Clovelly continued to dominate the opening period as the Buckland play looked very disjointed.

A stern half time talk from the Manager saw the visitors lift their game during the second half. Clovelly were unable to continue dominating the middle of the park as Vincent Bott and Simon Adams took control of proceedings. Buckland began to knock the ball around well and denied the home side any goal scoring opportunities during the latter period. With the game entering the last 20 minutes both substitutes, Jake Lomax and Ben Carter were brought into the match. Within minutes the two players combined well with Lomax coming close to scoring from close range. Five minutes from time a 25yd drive from Jake Lomax flew just over the Clovelly crossbar. Unfortunately, although Buckland played well during the second half any goals remained elusive.

Man of the Match: Simon Adams (midfield) & Vincent Bott (midfield)
