Match Report
The match was only ten minutes old when the referee was forced to send off a player from each side after punches were thrown following a tackle just outside the Buckland penalty area. Losing a player meant a slight reshuffle which Buckland never seemed to adjust to for the remainder of the half. Even with the wind at their backs the home side could only muster two clear scoring opportunities during the first half. A long distance shot from Jon Stanton and a shot on the turn from Jake Lomax that both flew high over the goal.
The second half introduced substitute Darren Moore into defence and after 15 minutes Phil Short came into midfield following an injury to a team mate. The game continued in the same messy, disjointed style as the first period. The Park strikers almost broke the deadlock on two or three occasions, but fine goalkeeping by the inform Danny Barnes kept the score sheet blank. With the game entering the final quarter Buckland began to push forward and find space behind the Park defence. Good opportunities fell to Leon Appleton, Jake Lomax and Vinny Bott, but on each occasion the opposition goalkeeper saved well. With the prospect of extra time looming, the ball was struck from 25yds by a visiting player. The ball cannoned off the crossbar and rebounded directly into the path of an on rushing striker who slotted the ball into the corner of the net from 8yds to send his team-mates into cheers of joy, with just less than 3 minutes to play.
