Match Report

With less than 3 minutes on the clock, Pilton were awarded a free kick just outside the Buckland penalty box. The kick was quickly taken, which caught the Buckland defence sleeping. The visiting centre forward neatly slotted the ball into the net from 8yds to open the scoring. Buckland looked sluggish during the next 15 minutes, with the visitors continually pressing forward. Against the run of play with 20 minutes elapsed, Buckland levelled the scores as a fine 30yd run by Phil Short ended with the player smashing a shot into the net from 12yds. The home side were filled with confidence from this point onwards, as chances from Jake Lomax and Phil Short kept the Pilton keeper on his toes. Simon Adams powered into the Pilton area, but was challenged heavily by a defender with both players landing on the deck. The Buckland striker quickly regained his feet and drove a low cross into the goalmouth which Jake Lomax swept into the net from close range to put the home side ahead, with less than 15 minutes to the break. The lead was short lived as Pilton were gifted an equaliser 3 minutes later. A mis-kick by the Buckland centre back allowed a Pilton striker to easily score from close range.

Midway through the second half Jake Lomax won the ball in a challenge with the keeper and defender within the penalty area and as the ball broke free an alert Phil Short shot into an empty net to once again put Buckland ahead. The 3 points seemed to be heading for the home side until 5 minutes from time when a mistake by the keeper, as he attempted to clear a back pass, gifted the visitors a third goal to level the scores.

Man of the Match: Jake Lomax (striker), Phil Short (midfield)
