Match Report

The second local derby of the season was an evenly contested match with Buckland just having the greater amount of possession and neater football. Bucklands midfield players combined well during the opening half, but as in recent weeks the strikers were unable to find the net. The opposition strikers were kept at bay by Martin Tucker and his defence, but it was a Putford striker, in the final minute of the half, who carried the ball into the opposition penalty area and struck a shot across the keeper that gave the lead to the home side at the break.

The second half was almost one way traffic as Buckland pressed hard for the equalising goal. Although Buckland held the greater possession and attempted to play the ball around the no nonsense approach by Putford continually frustrated the visitors. Substitute, Ben Carter came closest to equalising late in the game as his shot from a good pass by Simon Adams struck the far post but deflected the wrong side of Steve Bennett who was following in after the shot. Several chances were created by Buckland during the final minutes, but the equalising goal proved elusive.

Man of the Match: Martin Tucker (defender)
