Match Report
A strong Dolton outfit showed their early season promotion aspirations by opening a two goal lead within the first two minutes. Within 12 minutes this had increased to three goals as Buckland struggled to contain their lively opponents. The home side with only ten available players before the start of the game had to employ the services of veteran keeper John Adams in order to field a full eleven players. His return to the field of play was certainly a busy afternoon as Dolton peppered the Buckland goal was shots from all angles during the early exchanges. To Buckland’s credit their players dug in and slowly began to stem the onslaught. With Simon Adams and new signing Kevan Parker playing well in the middle of the team the home side reached half time with no further goals conceded. The second period progressed to the midway stage with no additional score, mainly due to the dogged display of goalkeeping from Bucklands ageing keeper who proved that he is still agile at 48. Eventually the keeper was beaten, as Dolton added two further strikes from close range to increase their tally to five. Martin Tucker attempted a long range shot with ten minutes remaining, only to see his drive rebound off the crossbar. Dolton rounded off the proceedings by adding a sixth goal from the penalty spot with only minutes remaining.
